Pedro Fernández Concha fue un destacado político e industrial chileno del siglo XIX. Fue además un notable bienhechor, que ayudó económicamente a varias congregaciones religiosas.<br /> <br /> Entre otras, a los escolapios: en [[1908]] les donó un terreno de 15.000 metros cuadrados en Santiago de Chile, para que fundaran allí un colegio.<br /> <br /> Los escolapios aceptaron, e inmediatamente construyeron allí una capilla para el culto público, pero la construcción del colegio se iba retrasando por dificultades financieras y de personal.
